Once again I was at Davies Hut and had gone there specifically to photography brumbies. With me were two friends, Adam with a video camera and Mark from New Zealand visiting. Well having spent some time around Davies hut and seeing where the brumbies take off to when they run from you, I’d figure that there was a high likely hood that they would run down this particular animal trail. So mid morning the next day there was a mob of brumbies out on the plain, so we created a plan that Adam, with the video, and I would hide out next to this animal track and Mark would go out and around the brumbies and push them in this direction, hoping that they would use this escape exit. So there I was, lying down behind some rocks and Adam was off to my left doing the same thing, 15 minutes went by and we where both wondering what was happening as we couldn’t see down into the valley after another 5 minutes, Adam said he was going to take a quick look. I remember Adam getting up and not taking the video camera with him and thinking take it with you Adam just incase they come over the rise, but I could yell out to him in fear of scaring the brumbies. So as it happened Adam was twenty paces away from the video camera when the brumbies came running over the rise, I started clicking away in a adrenalin fueled frenzy and all poor Adam could do was try helplessly to get back to the video camera. But by the time he did that, the brumbies where gone, I was elated at the plan working and the possibility of the great images that I’d just captured, but felt really bad for Adam and the awesome footage that he had just missed. That event taught me the need for patience even beyond logical reasoning.
