I couldn’t believe this, I was up on deck photographing the little islands and icebergs floating by when from out of the mist this square rigger appeared. My brain could comprehend what was going on for a second as I thought, “have we just gone through some sort of time warp”. Naturally I took about 150 shots of this boat in the space of about 15 minutes. I loved this shot as it really has the feel that it was taken back in the time, it has an old world feel of the first visitors to the Antarctic. The ship was the “Europa” a Netherlands sailing vessel, we were near Aitcho Island in the South Shetland Sea on the Antarctic Peninsula.
